It’s something I’d thought about before. But too easily, I get distracted and go on living life as usual. Slipping into my old habits and routines. Forgetting about the person I WANT to be…and most importantly, the person I want my children to SEE me being. I know that in the grand scheme of things, the actions I take will have a far greater impression on them than any of the words I speak. So last week, with it weighing heavily on my mind, I started making a list. A list of all those things I want my children to be. Those same things that they need to see in ME! Generosity. Kindness. Love. Compassion. A Healthy Lifestyle. Sharing Christ’s Love. Encouraging. Financially Responsible. Patient. Forgiving. Such a list really goes on and on, doesn’t it? So, when I saw Jessica Lynette’s post regarding The Nester’s 31 Day Challenge, my first thought was…31 Days…To Be The Person That You Want Your Child To Be!
31 days of concentrating on who I NEED to be.
For me.
For them.
31 days of refocusing.
31 days of being intentional.
So beginning tomorrow, my goal is to share my journey with you. And my hope is that it becomes a conversation between friends. So if you follow along, please leave a comment. Share what’s on your “list”. Respond to what’s on mine. Leave your words of wisdom. I’m excited to see where this 31 day journey will take us!
Clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Colossians 3:12-14

Cindy what a great theme! The topic of how our behavior affects that of our children has come up in a few conversations over the last few weeks. I will definitely be following along as I can already see a few things I didn’t notice that I do until my kids mirrored me.
I LOVE THIS THEME! I’m so excited to be following along!
just found you on emily freeman’s blog. after reading through 101 possibilities, this one, number 102, spoke to me. can’t wait to get caught up as it’s already oct. 5.
So glad you’re joining us! Hope to hear from you again soon!
What a great idea! I often think about the way I act, what I do, the things I think my daughter will remember when she grows up. I don’t ever want her to say ‘my mom was always_______ when I was growing up’ and not have it be something good. Looking forward to going back and reading all your posts!
[...] 2011 Pumpkin Ball Even though it seems that everyone has already moved passed the pumpkins (the stores have already started playing Christmas music for goodness sakes), I thought I’d share a bit more about our Pumpkin Ball that I’d hinted about during some of October’s 31 Days posts. [...]
