Finding Joy in the Everyday

I have been inspired by a couple of links that I’ve found recently through Life as Mom. They have both spoken to my heart tremendously about just cherishing the moment and embracing life as I know it, right here…right now!

In the first, Emily so beautifully reminds us that although we tend to cherish and celebrate the beginnings and endings of things, every single day matters! She so elequently writes: “Isn’t the day we said I do filled with the same kind of magic as ten years later when we pass the beans and biscuits around our Kmart table? Isn’t her first day of kindergarten equally as monumental as the 22nd day and the 76th day and the last? Because in each of those days, she lives and she moves and she is. Eternity is not for later.” Go read her post in it’s entirety. Then don’t waste another minute.  Commit yourself to finding joy in the everyday.

And in the second, Gretchen Rubin’s video reminds us of the truth that on this journey we call motherhood, “The days are long, but the years are short.” Indeed! Go watch it! Then thank the Lord for those precious daily tasks that you still get to do today!

So, chosen by God for this new life of love, dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compasion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline…Forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you. And regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It’s your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it. Colossians 3:12-14 The Message

Thanks for sharing. I hope everyone will take time to read Emily’s post. It is relevant no matter what your stage in life’s journey. Blessings to you and yours! Even though I don’t have little ones any longer, I enjoy seeing what you are doing with yours (especially now that we’re expecting our first grandchild)!
